Lab SoFun 

Welcome to the Laboratory for Simulations of Flows using numerics (Lab SoFun for short)! We focus on using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to understand fluid flows, headed by Dr. Pradeep Moise (PM) at the Department of Aerospace Engineering, IIT Kanpur, India.  

Research Focus

• High-performance computing for massively parallel numerical simulations (XCompact3D, SBLI)

• DNS, LES and RANS of incompressible and compressible flows

• Linear stability analysis, modal decomposition and reconstruction, resolvent analysis 

• Aerodynamic optimization

• Flow systems: Aircraft aerodynamics (transonic airfoils and wings, wing-tip vortices, contrails), swirling flows (combustors, microfluidics), bluff-body flows (cylinders, axisymmetric bluff-bodies, crew capsules)
